Wei Gallery is pleased to announce that the biggest annual exhibition, Foujita Solo “the Line that Never Ends” will be held on 7th December at “Chatham Maison” Art Research & Exchange Centre. While showcasing Tsuguharu Foujita’s authentic works, Wei Gallery Team will also narrate the story of this great Asian artist’s extraordinary life with this exhibition. The artist’s life will be illustrated with text, photographs, videos, interviews, and displays, which will be integrated into the presentation of the paintings to tell his captivating life story.
Regarding the title of the exhibition "the Line that Never Ends", on the one hand, it refers to the artist himself, who possesses a unique painting technique - his use of fine, long, beautiful lines - and symbolizes his spirit of never-ending exploration and discovery. On the other hand, it also implies that his artistic influence is endless, and later generations will continue to explore his artist legacy.
This time we exhibits Foujita’s life through different stages: "1914 – 1920 Early Series", "Cats Series", "Nude Woman Series", "Maidens Series", and "Holy Mother Series", including works by Foujita from 1914 to 1961.
Based on the common vision of promoting culture and art education to the public, this exhibition is honoured to receive direct support from the Foujita Foundation. It is also significant that this will be the first solo exhibition of Foujita in Hong Kong. Over the past few years, many galleries and museums around the world, including those in Japan and France, have organised art exhibitions for Foujita. However, there is still much room for his reputation in Hong Kong. Therefore, this exhibition aims to introduce this star of the 1920s Parisian painting and Asian art master to Hong Kong‘s art lovers.
In conjunction with this exhibition, at "Chatham Maison", Wei Gallery will also be organising a series of new conceptual "Art Sharing Party", the first of its kind, combining themed parties and art appreciation in the setting of an immersive party surrounded by Foujita's artworks, to create a cozy and enjoyable art atmosphere for art enthusiasts. The "Sleepless Night" Art Sharing Party will reenact the Roaring Twenties, the golden age of Paris in the 1920s during which Foujita rose as a star. You are cordially invited to a feast of art in Paris in its Golden Era, with a dress code of vintage style. Bookings for Foujita Art Sharing Party are available now. Please do not hesitate to contact us and secure your place soon if you are interested.
